Alessandro Trincone – Expressing identity beyond the spectrum of gender

«I never decided to take this path, it just happened. After high school I just wanted to leave my hometown because I was done with it». Talking with Alessandro Trincone

Alessandro Trincone beginning of fashion career

It’s been tough growing up here. My real passion back in the day was music but I didn’t feel like taking this path, so I only thought «fashion should be fun». I was wrong about the ‘fun part’ but I was right about having taken the right path. I moved first to Rome where it all started. As soon as I started, I understood that this was my world. The thing that most inspired me to become a fashion designer it’s the urgent necessity to express myself. The elements that inspire me the most are things like flowers, movements and the relationship between me and the society. I always listen to Hans Zimmer, he makes me feel calm and relaxed and he lets me feel all the feelings I have inside myself.

We are the killer of this world. Everyone. This pandemic situation to me is a reaction/alert from the earth. The world needed a break from humans. And it’s amazing how much the earth has recovered in only two months without our help. I Hope that after all this situation we will understand and we will try our best to limit the pollution and keep the world ‘healthy’. And one of the keys to keep the earth clear is avoiding chemical things such as synthetic fabrics. I hope they will produce new materials to help us designers to have more choices of materials.

Lampoon review: Craftsmanship at the core of Trincone collections

Currently I am doing research to find an eco tulle, since it is the fabric that I mostly use in all my collections. And I use a lot of meters. Craftsmanship is one of the keys of my collections. Most of my garments can’t be produced in series, is more like ‘haute couture’ since I work a lot with manipulation on the fabrics, volume and accessories. Every collection has a personal story behind, and that gives to them a personal interpretation of the garments and a different aesthetic I think.

I am currently focusing only on myself, having fun with my collections, wearing them and pretending to be a model. I have set up a photo booth in my own studio (in my own house) and decided to spend some time with my creations, I have never done that and it makes me feel so good. To wear them, to feel them without any deadline or pressure. The philosophy of my brand is to express ourselves, to inspire people to react in this world fighting against the gender barriers. I am trying my best to create a new identity that goes over the genders. Over the male and female figure. More than unisex. Something neutral that if you see it you can’t say «it’s for a man or a woman». I want to create clothes for people and let them feel themselves.

Culture is another key to my fashion. I am trying to destroy the parameters imposed by society, so by the culture. That doesn’t mean that I hate the culture in general or my culture. Just trying to let the expression be free.
