Lampoon Archive: Annie Collinge – some Gucci sneakers to play the old game

Using props and staging, the British photographer Annie Collinge creates scenes that seem to come straight out of a fairytale. Annie delivered Lampoon’s irony to Gucci Tennis 1977

In Annie’s practice, photography is just the final part of a larger, interdisciplinary process that begins with creating and setting up the scene to be photographed.

Photography is the part where mystery comes into play and allows her to bottle up some uncertainty. Annie mixes irony and provocation just as she bounces echoes of various historical eras in this shoot that recalls classical art and the 1970s.

Annie’s work is a constant search for surprise, constantly seeking to imprint an indelible mark on the minds of the most distracted observers. Photography that makes fun of objects and elaborates new meanings from them. Because everything in itself has no meaning, but it is all in what we ascribe to it.

The shooting was firstly released in February 2020.
